Weballoy, cast and wrought Co-Cr-Mo alloy, commercially pure titanium, Ti-6Al-4V alloy and other titanium alloys [7]. Recently, new titanium alloy compositions, specifically tailored for biomedical applications, have been developed. These first generation orthopedic alloys included Ti-6Al-7Nb and Ti-5Al-2.5Fe. WebGrade 5 also known as Ti6Al4V, Ti-6Al-4V or Ti 6-4 not to be confused with Ti-6Al-4V-ELI (Grade 23), is the most commonly used alloy. It has a chemical composition of 6% aluminum, 4% vanadium, 0.25% (maximum) iron, 0.2% (maximum) oxygen, and the remainder titanium.
